Welcome to the USS Meridian!
The early years of the newly formed United Federation of Planets. The founding members, United Earth, Vulcan, Andor, Tellar, and Alpha Centauri lead the way for the new members: Confederated Martian Colonies, Alpha III, Vega IX, Denobula, Benzar, United Rigel Worlds and Colonies, Arken II, Orodanga and Bolarus IX who are finding their place and standing in the Federation.
The USS Meridian, a Columbia class starship, leads the way in exploration as Starfleet pushes out further among the stars to find new worlds and hopefully expand.
But all is not completely peaceful. The Klingon Empire has concerns of the Federation which they have already determined to be a major force and threat which continues to get stronger with each new world joining. There are also the threats of piracy as civilian ships continue to push out further for trade and science expeditions.
Come join the crew of the Meridian as we explore, practice diplomacy, take on old and new threats to the United Federation of Planets, including threats from within.

Douglasdale landed the shuttle down on the surface in the area known as the Grid. Along with the doctor and science officer, accompanying them were two engineers and two medical personnel to assist with setting up the site. An alien shuttle landing not too far from a residential area was expected to draw attention. A few L'Dira had stepped outside their homes as they watched the shuttle land at the large facility in the distance. The doors, opened as the four enlisted stepped out and unloaded the equipment.

After the agreement had been signed off at the Reach, Captain Hunt had returned back to the Meridian with Stoudemore and sh'Joven. The Diplomat from Trill had opted to stay on L'Dira to help move the trade process along as smooth as possible. The other away team was still on the surface assisting with the Grid. Whether he would return back planetside was still up in the air. But at this time, he needed to speak with Starfleet Command regarding the agreement. Sitting at his desk, Andre waited for the communication to come through.

"Perhaps, he doesn't have to leave empty handed," Hunt spoke up. "If the Orions are willing to engage the L'Dira in legitimate trade that doesn't involve stolen goods or slavery practices. I could amend the trade with the Orions could be added to part two of the agreement."
Makeo was clearly surprised by the Starfleet Captain's words. "The Federation would allow L'Dira to have dealings with the Syndicate?"

Governor Vorren waited in his chambers. The Orions had arrived on schedule but seemed to be in orbit with the Meridian for quite some time. And now Captain Hunt had requested to meet with the staff earlier than expected. This Federation was interfering and couldn't tell if this was a good or bad thing. A trade agreement with the Trill would typically be a good thing. But the Orions had other plans, which involved taking from the Trill and had nothing to do with trade. Putting a heavy hand on the L'Dira's shoulder, Plaatjes grinned. 'Help is our business.' He shrugged, and sniffed as he considered the options. 'Reconfiguring your entire grid is more than I can do on my own, though. We'll need some additional help - I think I can get an Engineering crew down here pretty quick, and one of our science officers to work through any problems we come up against.
